Travelspot: Redefining Business Travel with a Vibrant Brand Identity

Bringing Joy and Relaxation to Business Trips

Business trips are often associated with stress and monotony, but Travelspot, a brand identity design by Barrage d.o.o, aims to change that perception. Inspired by the captivating stories of business travelers, Travelspot embraces the joyful and exciting aspects of travel, making business trips more relaxed and enjoyable.

Most companies in the travel industry adopt a conventional corporate visual language, lacking the playfulness that travel inherently offers. However, Travelspot breaks away from the norm with its atypically joyful look and feel. The brand identity design reflects Travelspot's mission to disrupt the exhausting effect that business trips can have on individuals.

The key element of the design is the logomark, which combines a travel bag, a map pin, and a loop resembling a roller coaster. This loop, representing the ups and downs of business trips, is replicated throughout the identity design. To supplement the visual language, a special pictogram system has been created, featuring landmarks from famous destinations. Additionally, unique systems for icons and illustrations have been developed.

The color palette of Travelspot is equally distinctive, featuring a triadic combination of Amber, Smog, Lavender, Mint, and Tuscany. Each color is given its own unique name, emphasizing the individuality of every travel story. This vibrant color scheme adds to the overall lively and enjoyable aesthetic of the brand.

Travelspot goes beyond just visual elements; it aims to establish a deeper connection between the individual traveler and the brand. Users are referred to as travelers, recognizing their role as individual storytellers. The brand provides a platform for travelers to share their unique stories, creating a sense of community and personalization.

The realization of Travelspot involved the use of various technologies and design tools. The online booking system was developed using VueJS for the frontend, NodeJS for the backend, and PostgreSQL for the database. Design applications such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, and AfterEffects were utilized to create the visual identity, print materials, and motion graphics.

The project initially started in 2018 in Osijek, Croatia, with the development of the online booking application. In 2019, a brand identity redesign was conducted to reflect the new vision of Travelspot. Extensive research was carried out, including interviews with business travelers to gain insights into their experiences and stories. The design team at Barrage d.o.o carefully translated these experiences into a visual language that captures the essence of joyful and memorable business trips.

Travelspot's innovative brand identity design has received recognition in the form of the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award honors designs that exhibit creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life. Travelspot stands out for its incorporation of best practices in art, science, design, and technology, redefining the business travel experience.
